WARNING SIGNS OF GANG INVOLVEMENT

WHAT PARENTS CAN DO TO PREVENT GANG INVOLVEMENT

RESOURCES

Dear Citizens of Halifax County,

The Halifax County Anti-Gang Task Force is made up of law enforcement and corrections officers, prosecutors, educators, ministers, business leaders, elected officials and community volunteers. Each of us has a common goal to ensure that Halifax County remains safe from gangs and gang violence. We remain committed to the enforcement of the laws but are equally passionate in our prevention efforts. Our goal will be reached when all of us, including parents, work together to provide our youth with the tools to resist gangs and to strive for success. We are hopeful that this web site will assist parents, children, and community members in these efforts. If we can provide any further information, present an educational program, or answer any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Commonwealth's Attorney's Office by mail, telephone, fax, or email.

Sincerely,
Kim Slayton White

HOW PARENTS CAN HELP PREVENT GANG INVOLVEMENT

As a parent you want to protect your children and make sure that they do not become involved with gangs.  Here are some good parenting strategies to keep your child from gang involvement:

  • Get involved in your child's school activities
  • Know your child's friends and their families

  • Take action in your neighborhood (create a neighborhood alliance, report graffiti)
